Miroir Brot, ParisIn the archives of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain from the eighteenth century one finds several employees named Brot. One of them, François Brot, founded the company in 1826 in Paris, a few steps from the Place de la République. The products immediately gained an excellent reputation and the House of Brot achieved great success throughout Europe.
In 1875, they invented what was seen as an absolutely revolutionary three-sided mirror. Considered a marvel of ingenuity; it further increased the international reputation of the brand as one of the major manufacturers of mirrors. Later, in 1927, Brot created the concept of mirror lighting known at the time as "Mirophar". Originally it was designed to equip motor vehicles but its use in the domestic environment quickly became apparent as an aid to both men and women when shaving or applying make-up. Links |
